Take Warning

Take Warning

By David Smith April 15, 2009

Great-Grand-mothers and grandmothers and parents that fade;

Every generation, new achievements are made.

As life cycles change from the old to the new;

Dealing with death and bereavement

The pain we all go through.

Every generation picks up the slack.

The Bible the Book read from front cover to the back.

That is the hope; the meaning of life

God’s Word alone will eliminate strife.

As each generation fades all around;

The Word of the Lord keeps emotions sound.

That blessed hope; focus every day.

Thy word to build on for a foundation to stay.

As everything changes accept Bible verses so clear;

Dwell on the constant; wrath of God to fear.

Now to the Gospel Meeting last Sunday night

Warnings we hear, listen to the fright.

Cars now have mirrors for the warnings to see.

Cars come from nowhere

Warnings for you and for me.

And earthquakes predicted; yet told not to expose.

Add panic to the multitude in the newspaper we were told.

Then to the Bible; heaven and hell is so real.

Yet no one wants to believe how a saviour can heal

And so take warning; your eternity is at stake

Consumed by fire;

What door will you take?

The Book of Ruth and Prodigal Son

Book of Ruth and the Prodigal Son

By David Smith Friday January 11, 2002

The Book of Ruth and the Prodigal Son

Have many similarities along the run

The Land of Moab of complete despair

Ruth and Naomi left the Wash Pot there

They came to a land of Bread and Praise

In Bethlehem they had good days

The Prodigal Son left a land so rich

Went away and lived out of a filthy ditch

He returned to his father’s place

Ashamed and beaten and a big disgrace

His father took him in with love and respect

Put gold on his finger.  He did not reject

The Prodigal Son and Naomi and Ruth

Came back to the fold enriched and with couth

They got their whipping far away

Came back to the Father for the rest of their day

That is the story of forgiveness and care

The Good News of the Bible for us to share

Inspired by the Book of Ecclesiastes

Inspired by the Book of Ecclesiastes

By David Smith September 1, 2006

Water to vapour and clouds to sea

Rain to oceans, cycles that be

Proven in science, now listen close

Wisdom from the bible, inspiration to boast

In the Book of Ecclesiastes

A time for everything we hear

Imagine the Bible, God’s Word to appear

All the rivers run into the sea. Yet the sea is not full. Unto the place where the river once come hither they return again”

There’s no indication that the world is flat

The reasoning of man was on the wrong track

“One generation passeth away

And another generation cometh

But the earth abideth for ever”

Man stroked pen to page, but God’s word is cleaver

“The wind goeth toward the south and turnith about unto the north. It whirleth about continually. And the wind returneth again according to his circuits”

As the earth orbits the sun, circuits and cycles are rolled into one

God’s Word for the past, the future to see

And in the present, thy word is for me
