The Gospel in Rhyme

The Gospel in Rhyme

Jeremiah  17:9The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?

Romans 5:6 in due time Christ died for the ungodly

John 17:3,4 And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent. I have glorified thee on the earth: I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do.

Romans  10:9, 10, 11 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness: and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.

Colossians  2:8  Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.

Christ died for the ungodly; the words to truly believe;

The finished work of the Cross

Any other way will undermine and deceive.

He did it all; it all has been done

To believe with thine heart, to repent

He has won.

To live a godly life without Christ in the heart;

Being so desperately wicked, Satan does his part.

Live a holy life because Christ dwells in you.

By faith ye are saved; His word carries us through

To live a religious life; a slave of work for sure;

Only God’s finished work, where eternity can endure.

Thy faith has made thee whole

To confess with thy mouth;

And believe with thine heart;

What salvation is all about.

What Draws Us Here?

What Draws Us Here?

By their fruits you will know them

II Corinthians 11:13 For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ.

14. And no marvel: for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.

15. Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness: whose end shall be according to their works.

I don’t stay because of you; You don’t stay because of me;

The Word of the LORD, His Joy, that we see.

By grace are ye saved through faith alone

Christ is the staying power; He sits on His throne.

The pure word of God, the Martyrs of the Saints,

The eternal joy what the Cross at Calvary paints.

Wolves in sheep’s clothing we heard of today

By the fruits you will know them, Thy WORD will stay.

The Word of the LORD, His Joy that we see

To be born anew, faith for you and me

That is the answer on what draws us here.

A new Hope, a new life, to face the END without fear;

God Uses Tears

God Uses Tears

Scripture Text

Exodus 2:5,6 And the daughter of Pharaoh came down to wash herself at the river; and her maidens walked along by the river’s side; and when she saw the ark among the flags, she set her maid to fetch it. And when she had opened it, she saw the child: and, behold the babe wept. And she had compassion on him, and said, This is one of the Hebrews’ children.

God uses tears to dismantle the Egyptian Empire;

From a baby’s cry; as a Hebrew’s breathe would inspire;

Moses came out of the bulrushes and raised by Pharaoh at hand;

And then led the people; the goal of finding the Promised Land.

God used tears and compassion to get His chosen ahead

And prepared Moses; “in the hand of God” he was spiritually led.

In due time without hope; turn it over to God.

The keys to death and life;

His power alone we can applaud.

God uses tears to dismantle my will;

Surrender to Jesus; the Cross on Calvary’s Hill.

Black Coffee

Black Coffee

By David Smith July 19, 2010

Scripture Text

Psalm 119:l40 Thy word is very pure: therefore thy servant loveth it.

John 3:30 He must increase, but I must decrease

Revelation 22: 18 – 19 For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out o the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.

He drinks his coffee black for the full flavoured brew;

Adding cream and sugar, a taste that is not so true;

Similar to scriptures: to study, believe and grow;

Adding to His Word; Man’s way we get to know.

Coffee without additives, a pure clear taste

The Bible without opinion; God’s Word to truly embrace;

Philosophy and opinion to be kept outside the camp;

Trusting God’s Holy Word; the pure oil in the lamp.

A coffee black is symbolic, and neither here nor there;

But God’s Holy Word; Purity to share;

Do not dilute or add, Man’s sweetness to taste;

The Perfect will of God;

His way, through trials, to embrace.

The Gideon Way

The Gideon Way

David Smith thebiblepoet, July 18, 2010

Scripture Text

Inspired by Judges 7:20 And the three  companies blew the trumpets, and brake the pitchers, and held the lamps in their left hands, and the trumpets in their right hands to blow withal: and they cried, The sword of the LORD, and of Gideon.

The battle is the LORD’s; with Gideon that day

As the broken vessels, the light on great display

As they blew the trumpets, God’s verbal beckoning call

And the sword of the Spirit, the enemy did surely fall

O what a picture of the Living Christ today;

The trumpet, the Word of God, the command on great display

O the earthen vessel, ageing mortal man

To only have it broken for God’s light to take the stand.

And the Sword of the Spirit which is the word of God

O the faith in Christ; the cross we can applaud

Thanks be to the Gospel, the finished work complete

At the Cross of Calvary, Victory, at Jesus’ feet.

The Master Pruner

The Master Pruner

By David Smith July 3, 2010

Scripture text

Matthew 7: 18, 19, 20 Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit: but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit. Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.

Hebrews 4: 12 For the word of God is quick and powerful, and sharper than any two edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

As God wants to mould me and shape me to mend

Closer to Jesus by His Word he did sent.

He gave a wife to hit heads with all day

To realize the Value, the power to pray

With painful jabs, God’s Holy Word

Piercing the heart so wicked and reserved

To point out the stubbornness to let in the light

The joy of a Christian with a restless night

The master pruner, with knife in his hand

A two edged sword on God’s word that I stand

Far from the truth and out in left field

By faith alone; to God’s way that I yield

And every day; change appears so slow

Through cutting and whittling, the Pruner to know;

He is the surgeon to bring me closer to the Cross

Sacrificed His Begotten Son; that I might not be lost.

O what joy as I hurt in his hand;

As he guides me and prunes me; for His Promised Land.
