Need For the Gospel

Need for the Gospel

By David Smith April 24, 2011

Inspired at Ministry Meeting

Gold frankincense and myrrh they offered to the king

The wise men from the East came to worship him

The richness of his glory; the sweet savour here on earth

And the eternal glory, Christmas, we call his birth.

Wood hay and stubble; our materialism we bring

Our selfishness as rags we offer to our king

We have to be on fire and through the furnace a glow

To be the living stones for the Saviour that we know;

Through the fiery furnace where temper is complete

So we can worship Him in purity so sweet

Clothed in His righteousness as we worship God and King

On fire for the Lord to let our voices sing.

Wood hay and stubble contrasts riches in heavens glory

O the finished work of the Cross, it is the Gospel Story.

And that was the drift from the message in the morn

And to follow Christ the need to be re born.

Twelve Stones

Twelve Stones

Reference:

Exodus 28:21 And the stones shall be with the names of the children of Israel, twelve, according to their names, like the engravings of a signet; every one with his name shall they be according to the twelve tribes.

1 Kings 18:31 And Elijah said unto all the people, Come near unto me. And all the people came near unto him. And he repaired the alter of the LORD that was broken down. And Elijah took twelve stones, according to the number of the tribes of the sons of Jacob, unto whom the word of the LORD came, saying Israel shall be thy name:

Joshua 4:3 And command ye them, saying Take you hence out of the midst of Jordan, out of the place where the priests’ feet stood firm, twelve stones, and ye shall carry them over with you, and leave them in the lodging place where  ye shall lodge this night.

Rev 21:14 And the wall of the city had twelve foundations, and in them the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb.

Salvation, baptism and administration so fine;

With Twelve precious stones a picture we find.

A breastplate worn by a priest to compare;

Representing Israel with Twelve Stones to share

Twelve tribes represented by the priest as he stood;

In the Holy of Holies Representing son of God as he would.

Those are the stones on the breastplate we read;

Every gem is unique to the tribes that’s received.

Restoration comes to light in a baptism we see;

Where water is consumed and the sacrifice that be

Right sacrifice, right alter, and right time, where everything was consumed;

Calvary complete sacrifice where sin is doomed.

When Peter denied his Lord he made a grave mistake;

A warning for preachers that fail for the humble road to take;

The twelve disciples judge the twelve tribes so clear;

In Revelation, the unbeliever, has everything to fear.

In Joshua in new life as the Jordan they cross.

The new birth in Baptism, a picture comes across.

Seek those things which are above.

The finished works of the cross; complete in God’s Love.

Going into worship the pattern of Christ; Pictures and Illustrations of the author will suffice

The bullock has strength as it ploughs the ground; the heavy loads and burdens, a service is found.

A willingness to plough, year after year; a Saviour of the soul we hold so dear.

A picture of submission we look to the sheep; easily guided to the slaughter so sweet

If it’s in the book it is alright for me; Obedience to the word on humble knee.

The goat has the skill on mountain sides he can step; our walk through life in his hand we are kept;

Our walk is important, let the spirit lead; Let go and let God; His skills we need.

Turtle doves and pigeons speak of sorrow; Sensitivity of Christ as he’s coming back tomorrow.

Be sensitive of sin as we live each day; to ask for forgiveness and continually pray.

Christianity not to be endured but enjoyed; the fullness of Christ a peace we employed.

Crucified with Christ to live with him; to deny the flesh for joy to begin;

The innards of the sacrifices were washed so clean; the hidden lusts of the flesh where secrets have been

Purged with God’s word and obeyed so true; Illustrations of Christ where birth is new.

Decision determines destiny; as Illustrations are clear; acceptance of the Living Lord as time is drawing near.

Love

Love

By David Smith April 9, 2011

John 21:15 So when they had dined, Jesus saith to Simon Peter, Simon, son of Jonas lovest thou me more than these?

Small but strong like a piece of twine

Peter’s love was tested many a time.

Do I really love things or love of Christ?

The test from within; the proving ground will suffice

All things but loss for Christ to gain

Souls to reach out to; the preacher did explain.

Bring the fish which we have now caught

Stirred up love; a joy we have got.

His love is fixed like the Northern Star

And our love dynamic, moves so close and so far

Christ’s love does not change; and this world is a test

Focus on the Cross for the eternal rest.

Simple Faith

Simple Faith

By David Smith December 18, 2007

All power and all knowing; Almighty and just

Omnipotent, eternal; where believers place trust

We talk of complexity; of an all knowing God

Its simplicity; Its faith; I want to applaud

Unless we become as a child to his dad

And not to question the trust that we had

Unless we are open to our father’s will

Faith and obedience is His greatest thrill

That’s the simplicity; simple faith to obey

To take His word and believe and to pray

For there is complexity as you study his word

Faith is the answer; salvation assured

The simple Gospel; the work of the cross

It is finished. His total life is the cost.
