Shadows Reveal Christ

Shadows Reveal Christ

By David Smith May 15, 2018

The shadows on the floor, the silhouette to see

The desk and the chairs, vivid imagery fascinate me

The details of the chairs, the shadow is cast

The little tiny holes, how the light gets past

The shadow is not the image,

Think of what is to come

Just like the Old Testament,

Shadowing Christ, the Blessed one

We see the shadows, the sacrifices and all

Books of the Old Testament as God’s Word, would call

Pictures and illustrations, and then it’s fulfilled

The shadows are explained after Christ crucified on a hill

It all comes together, the prophets reveal

The words of the Old Testament, and the finished work becomes real

Look at reality, and see how the shadow is cast

Where both is revealed and how salvation does last

That’s the authority where God’s Word is preached

His Word becomes flesh and that’s what we teach

We see the shadows and the finished work comes in view

The reality of the Cross, the predictions are true

That is the Gospel, with its shadows and light

It is the Good News, will you be saved tonight

Believe with thine heart, Christ died for me

The finished work of the Cross at Calvary

Al’s Personal Bible

Al’s Personal Bible

By David Smith May 3, 2018

Reminds me of a casket

That Bible of old

Words of the Gospel

Where stories are told

The physical structure with pages and ink

And bound with eternity,

Where a mortal body would sink

I see that Bible, the message that’s sent

Eternity,

Where the soul,

Would forever be spent

Think of Al’s Bible,

As he brings pages to life

The value of a soul

Will one be saved tonight?

Hope

Hope

Inspired by Breaking of Bread Service

April 6, 2018

“Even now!” there is always hope

The promises of God,

How a Believer can cope

David, motivated out of love and concern

The vision of hope,

Encouragement for others to learn

As people harp and symbols collide

Steadfast and sure

Hope, to carry God’s promises in stride

God of Hope and the music from the harp

The Word of God,

Eternity is the spark

Hanna knew the God of Hope

She left Samuel at the temple,

Her faith to cope

It is not wishful thinking

As the world twists fear around

It’s the steadfastness and Love

As that Blessed Hope is found

It’s nothing to harp at,

As Hope may be all we see

That Glorious appearing,

Christ Died for ME

Oven, pan and Frying pan, Windows in the Lord’s life
Where we can see growth of Christianity and might
The first glimpse of the Lord, shepherds all around
Born in a stable, in a humble life, he was found
The second window, the glimpse to appear
When the wise men came to worship him here
And down to Egypt to get out of Herod’s way
For Herod started eliminating children that very day

And then to a time when Christ could read
And taught the Rabbis spiritual need
Special observations from the glimpse in the oven door
What God the Father had for us in store
Then the glimpse of the Blood Stained Cross
And the Empty Tomb as eternal life comes across
Matthew, Mark, Luke and John
And development of Christianity as his light brightly shone
From the oven door and glimpses to see
What the sacrifices in Leviticus are telling me.

Blind man Helped me See

Blind man helped me see
May 7, 2015

A blind man tapping on the sidewalk as he navigates down the street
A picture of the roadway through his hands and feet
He taps out a scene as he quickly glides ahead
Thinking of his confidence with his erect head
Why can’t I have that motivation to see the things unseen?
And walk in mere shadows with enthusiasm so keen
Being able to see and touch and feel and taste
And yet timid to walk through life
A fear that is a waste
A blind man tapping on the sidewalk
A picture of love and hope
And through all life’s difficulties
We too can find ways to cope

To see the things unseen and to tap into eternal life
The word of the Lord, to avoid the great inferno of his might

Blessed are those that believe as scripture unfolds before our very eyes
And all the wisdom of the Lord for us to memorize.

As a blind man walks by faith while he taps down the street
Its faith in Christ, the knowing to be saved is all so sweet

Its faith that can move mountains the obstacles within
The blessed hope, the glorious appearing, our focus to keep us from sin.
Hope is not wishful thinking of a future, past our prime
It is divine promises by faith alone in our creator’s time

So I see the blind man how he sees things unseen
Only an illustration, of what salvation can truly mean.

A blind man taping on the sidewalk as he taps down the street
The light of the world shines before us, the gift of eternal life at our feet
Let’s accept we are blind as he guides us along
To see by faith alone in his hand we are strong

Sin and the Sinner Meet

Sin and the Sinner Meet
By David Smith August 13, 2013

Where there is sin, there is always a sinner
That was the drift as our pride grew thinner
Looking for evidence in a crime scene, we saw
Important people found guilty, as they’re broken and crawl

All our good works and training we do,
Is all in vain, we can’t work our way through.
No matter how many times at the stop sign we pause
Go though it once we are subject to the laws.

We talked about Joshua and his detective work came about
Important people in scriptures were guilty, no doubt.
Biblical history ties together from the past to today.
Now is the time for forgiveness we pray.

Biblical truths came to light at Vacation Bible School.
God’s law is standard, the perfect rule.
So How to measure up, and what can we do.
The finished work of the Cross, the evidence points to.

There is nothing we can do, our righteousness as filthy rags.
Christ and, Christ crucified is all we can brag.
The wages of sin is death
But the gift of God is eternal life.
That was the message of meditation to night

The Time Line

The Time Line (Inspired September 12, 2007)

A time line we heard last night

Structure to history, things in order so right

As the world sees importance, tombstone and date

Progression of time as growth has a rate

A new time line as scriptures hit hard

From the Second Birth, as Christ Jesus is in charge

Being Born again as death looses it’s sting

Eternal security in everything.

A new time line as we are fed by his Word

Another dimension where eternity is assured

To grow in Christ, in trials and difficulties too

Not be ashamed of what God can do

The time line from God to measure growth by his way

What a message I got that day

The Grand Piano Compares to Grand Salvation

The Grand Piano Compares to Grand Salvation
By David Smith April 6, 2014

The piano, a story, as it misses a few notes;
Looks like a masterpiece, but the keys are not what the Master wrote.
What a luster finish, the Grand Piano on display
The climax of the showcase, it’s the inside that gets in the way

Can relate to the piano so grand
How to speak and take a firm stand
But it’s the heart that may be out of tune
What the public does not see, can make the Lord God fume

The cost of repair for the piano that day
An honest evaluation, what the appraiser had to say
It’s not the piano and how the music is grand
It’s my relationship with Christ where my sin is at hand

O to measure the standard of God
The Ten Commandments; where my righteousness is flawed
An honest evaluation before judgement day
The finished work of the Cross, what the Redeemer did pay

He did it all to put me in tune
The good news of the Gospel where a new creation can bloom
We are His workmanship in His Second birth
He paid the cost when he came to this Earth.

By grace are ye saved though faith alone
We are His workmanship
He sits on the Royal Throne.
O the Cross, where sin is washed away
Cleansed by His Blood for the Judgement day

From Egyt to Canaan: What a Walk!

From Egypt to Canaan What a Walk!

A Series of meetings

Seeing the BIBLE as a mirror at a glance

To meditate on the WORD to the present NOT by Chance

How it fits is revel lent to today

From Egypt to Canaan much room to pray

To focus on God in this wilderness of mine

And leave temptations of Satan behind

It happened to the Jews to be lost no doubt

From Egypt to Canaan Heavenly lessons came about

What a joy with all its trials

Walking his way there is reason to smile.

Meditating on the Red Sea

(While drinking coffee on Break)

He drinks his coffee black and thinks of worldly trials

Like the ten plagues in Egypt

What the world or pharaoh did despise

Moses rod turned into a serpent and ate the Pharaoh’s snakes

The serpent was first mentioned where the Garden was at stake

God turned dust to lice, and what did it imply?

The magicians could not match it, last night we found out why.

God created man from the dust of the ground.

The Creator created life, Satan’s light was never found.

So we have temptations and trials in this land

To leave this cultured world

In the Heavenlies to stand.

So the Jewish Journey from Egypt we can see

In this present world what God’s WORD is telling me

So to Cling to Scripture; God’s Lesson there in life,

For forty years of wondering turns me toward the light.

The Manna

The manna the bread from heaven no doubt

Christ is the true bread

His WORD does shout

Exquisite pictures of Christ in Glory

The parables on earth speak of the Bible story.

Everything points to the Old Rugged Tree

Pictures of Christ fascinated to see

Studying His WORD the Work of the Cross

To Know I’m a sinner and no reason to be lost.

Christ died for Me the verses are clear

The Good News of the bible is reason to cheer

Not only the Manna but the Rock smitten twice

Moses lost entry to the Promised Land so nice

It was clear to Moses to speak to the Rock

When He hit that boulder, disaster struck

He got results but God’s Pattern took a turn

Moses and our obedience have to learn.

Stick to God’s pattern and pray and obey.

God’s Word speaks to me

It has something to say.

The Red Sea

The Red Sea, a body, not moving and still

A picture of the Lord Jesus, established what a thrill.

As Moses held his staff and the parting of the sea

A commandant a judgement an illustration we can see

And the crossing of the Jordan, a river that moves

Divided from Adam, the city set the groove

The Israelites cross with the Ark of the Covenant possessing.

The Lord is with them as our walk is professing.

Their difficulties and set backs were for our learning.

What’s in it for today, our passion is burning.

All these pictures from Egypt to Canaan

How they fit together, greater knowledge, the explaining.

So study the pattern from the First books of the Lord

Fulfilled in the New our understanding has soared.

Christ in you, Hope in Glory
Romans Fifteen, the text for the story
Pleasing God infirmities of the weak
These that are strong a mission to teach
Building up believers in Christ we can see
He pleased not himself and an encouragement he be
We have to do what God saved us for
To strengthen believers
The assembly is in store
We have to endure step forward in trust
Past time for our learning
Faith is so much.
