Shadows Reveal Christ

Shadows Reveal Christ

By David Smith May 15, 2018

The shadows on the floor, the silhouette to see

The desk and the chairs, vivid imagery fascinate me

The details of the chairs, the shadow is cast

The little tiny holes, how the light gets past

The shadow is not the image,

Think of what is to come

Just like the Old Testament,

Shadowing Christ, the Blessed one

We see the shadows, the sacrifices and all

Books of the Old Testament as God’s Word, would call

Pictures and illustrations, and then it’s fulfilled

The shadows are explained after Christ crucified on a hill

It all comes together, the prophets reveal

The words of the Old Testament, and the finished work becomes real

Look at reality, and see how the shadow is cast

Where both is revealed and how salvation does last

That’s the authority where God’s Word is preached

His Word becomes flesh and that’s what we teach

We see the shadows and the finished work comes in view

The reality of the Cross, the predictions are true

That is the Gospel, with its shadows and light

It is the Good News, will you be saved tonight

Believe with thine heart, Christ died for me

The finished work of the Cross at Calvary

Al’s Personal Bible

Al’s Personal Bible

By David Smith May 3, 2018

Reminds me of a casket

That Bible of old

Words of the Gospel

Where stories are told

The physical structure with pages and ink

And bound with eternity,

Where a mortal body would sink

I see that Bible, the message that’s sent

Eternity,

Where the soul,

Would forever be spent

Think of Al’s Bible,

As he brings pages to life

The value of a soul

Will one be saved tonight?

Hope

Hope

Inspired by Breaking of Bread Service

“Even now!” there is always hope

The promises of God,

How a Believer can cope

David, motivated out of love and concern

The vision of hope,

Encouragement for others to learn

As people harp and symbols collide

Steadfast and sure

Hope, to carry God’s promises in stride

God of Hope and the music from the harp

The Word of God,

Eternity is the spark

Hanna knew the God of Hope

She left Samuel at the temple,

Her faith to cope

It is not wishful thinking

As the world twists fear around

It’s the steadfastness and Love

As that Blessed Hope is found

It’s nothing to harp at,

As Hope may be all we see

That Glorious appearing,

Christ Died for ME

Man Of Sorrows

Man of Sorrows

Inspired Breaking of Bread Service June 11, 2017

Creator of the world where the world knew him not

Man of Sorrows, the reputation, He got

Came from heaven surrounded by glory

The ignorance of the world tells a different story

He was hated and despised without cause

Man of Sorrows, to ponder and pause

The insensitivity of the world where jealousy is strong

Man of Sorrows, His name is long

Injustice and selfishness are separate from God

Man of Sorrows, his example to applaud

To walk His way, salvation all worthwhile

Man of Sorrows, upright with a smile

Follow His lead to our gain

Man of Sorrows, such a name

Creator of the world where the world knew him not

That is the circumstances for the reputation He got

Oven, pan and Frying pan, Windows in the Lord’s life
Where we can see growth of Christianity and might
The first glimpse of the Lord, shepherds all around
Born in a stable, in a humble life, he was found
The second window, the glimpse to appear
When the wise men came to worship him here
And down to Egypt to get out of Herod’s way
For Herod started eliminating children that very day

And then to a time when Christ could read
And taught the Rabbis spiritual need
Special observations from the glimpse in the oven door
What God the Father had for us in store
Then the glimpse of the Blood Stained Cross
And the Empty Tomb as eternal life comes across
Matthew, Mark, Luke and John
And development of Christianity as his light brightly shone
From the oven door and glimpses to see
What the sacrifices in Leviticus are telling me.

Blind man Helped me See

Blind man helped me see
May 7, 2015

A blind man tapping on the sidewalk as he navigates down the street
A picture of the roadway through his hands and feet
He taps out a scene as he quickly glides ahead
Thinking of his confidence with his erect head
Why can’t I have that motivation to see the things unseen?
And walk in mere shadows with enthusiasm so keen
Being able to see and touch and feel and taste
And yet timid to walk through life
A fear that is a waste
A blind man tapping on the sidewalk
A picture of love and hope
And through all life’s difficulties
We too can find ways to cope

To see the things unseen and to tap into eternal life
The word of the Lord, to avoid the great inferno of his might

Blessed are those that believe as scripture unfolds before our very eyes
And all the wisdom of the Lord for us to memorize.

As a blind man walks by faith while he taps down the street
Its faith in Christ, the knowing to be saved is all so sweet

Its faith that can move mountains the obstacles within
The blessed hope, the glorious appearing, our focus to keep us from sin.
Hope is not wishful thinking of a future, past our prime
It is divine promises by faith alone in our creator’s time

So I see the blind man how he sees things unseen
Only an illustration, of what salvation can truly mean.

A blind man taping on the sidewalk as he taps down the street
The light of the world shines before us, the gift of eternal life at our feet
Let’s accept we are blind as he guides us along
To see by faith alone in his hand we are strong

Sin and the Sinner Meet

Sin and the Sinner Meet
By David Smith August 13, 2013

Where there is sin, there is always a sinner
That was the drift as our pride grew thinner
Looking for evidence in a crime scene, we saw
Important people found guilty, as they’re broken and crawl

All our good works and training we do,
Is all in vain, we can’t work our way through.
No matter how many times at the stop sign we pause
Go though it once we are subject to the laws.

We talked about Joshua and his detective work came about
Important people in scriptures were guilty, no doubt.
Biblical history ties together from the past to today.
Now is the time for forgiveness we pray.

Biblical truths came to light at Vacation Bible School.
God’s law is standard, the perfect rule.
So How to measure up, and what can we do.
The finished work of the Cross, the evidence points to.

There is nothing we can do, our righteousness as filthy rags.
Christ and, Christ crucified is all we can brag.
The wages of sin is death
But the gift of God is eternal life.
That was the message of meditation to night

Vacation Bible School Concluding Message

What a humble message at vacation bible school
The Ten Commandments, and perfection, is God’s perfect rule
A touching story of “The Little Flower”
A mayor of New York with judgement power
Fined a man guilty of stealing bread was his sin
To keep his family fed for this city to live in
The mayor paid the fine and fined everyone around
For allowing poverty to flourish in The New York City town
The judge set the fine and paid it too
That is the reflection of what the Lord Jesus did do

Sin always has a very high price
It’s the shedding of blood for payment to suffice
The wages of sin is death and eternal punishment severe
Though sin is pleasurable, it’s the end result to fear
David with one sin broke 10 Commandments grand
A man after God’s own heart at His mercy he did stand

Jesus came into the world from heaven
Just like the manna, the bread un-leaven
I and my Father are one
The Saviour, the Lamb, He is the Son
God took all my sin and laid it on the cross
That cross built for me and Christ paid the cost

It is finished. At the cross, He did pay
He took my night and turned it into day
Pilate knew Jesus was innocent, in Him he found no fault
Afraid of loosing esteem, the crucifixion he did not halt.

Under the law we are talented sinners
We do it all quite well
Yet we need a saviour to keep us from eternal hell
Realize I’m a sinner and looking for a door
Jesus is the answer. He settled the judgement score
What a humble message at the closing of the day
Sin paid in full, to accept it and obey.

Sunday Night Gospel in Poem Form

Sunday Night Gospel in Poem Form
John 3:16
By David Smith Sunday August 10, 2014
God so loved the world; to come a certain way
To realize I am a sinner and Christ my sins did pay.
Realizing I am bankrupt and nothing I can do.
God so Loved the World. HIS way it shines through

The Pharisees love of money, and God benefits are wealth
That is Man’s perspective and Christ tips the religious shelf.

How could God be loving to sacrifice His son?
Unless there is a danger where hell and fire run
And the Love is simple, a person that we trust
The Loving Lord Jesus, belief in Him a must.

And it is secure; eternal if you will
Whom he justified he glorified for His eternal thrill
Unless response expected, and a big yes, if you please
For if it is denial, Lake of Fire, He will sneeze.

And that is the Gospel, the choice is up to you
Reject it or embrace it, which door do you go through?

My Bible

My Bible
December 7, 2007

My Bible, God’s Word, tattered and worn
Opened and closed in the wee hours of the morn
The Bible, well used, as pages they turn
Being chiselled in the heart, the scriptures we learn

A battered Bible, Faith says it all
Newness of life, a new birth as we crawl
Then to stand on God’s Word as we shout
It is finished, the Cross, what the Gospel is about

The bible, tattered, well worn, and read
Opened and shut, the Old Nature we dread
